Hot Salsa & Race Results!

The weekend is ending.

The results of the race are posted on the race website. My chip time was 28:54! That’s a 9:16 pace. I’m pleased with that. I was aiming for under 30 minutes. I finished 139th of 358 women in my age group. Yay!

I’m trying to think of all of the things that I ate this afternoon.

I had this times 2:

I love this salsa so much. I ate half the container today.

I had 2 BIG servings of Stonyfield plain with pumpkin, wheat bran and cinnamon.

I had some raisins.

There has to be other things. I just can’t remember…

I did a bunch of cleaning today and napping and porch swinging. I prepared some snacks for the week:

Frozen strawberries on the left and then carrots and mini sweet peppers on the right.

FOUR day work week this week!

I’m off. This has been the longest day ever.

Race Recap (A post with PICTURES)

The race is DONE!! It was great! I’m not sure of my time?? The clock said like 30 minutes when I finished but I was stuck in traffic before the starting line so I’m guessing it’ll be a minute or two less than that. For my very first race, I was pleased.

Race Recap:
So I caught the 54C into Oakland at 7:30 and got there about 15 minutes later. I wandered around the Race booths and then waited in line at the porta-potties. Coffee and water pre-race… I got to the starting line around 8:15 and stood around until 8:30 AM when the race started. In the beginning, it was impossible to run fast. There were just too many people. The race started out up hill but I was so excited that I didn’t mind. About a mile into the race, I saw the president of my bank and started yelling his name. lol. He saw me and waved.

I made a new playlist yesterday with two Ra Ra Riot songs. New running music is the best.

The whole race went SO quickly. Once I could see the finish line, I sped up and finished at a faster pace. It was great! I finished and still had tons of energy. I got a banana and a bottle of water and also ate a tiny bit of ice cream! Then I wandered into Oakland to wait for a bus home. I sat at the bus stop for 20 minutes and then gave up and decided to just run home. It’s only maybe 1.5 miles? Who knows why I had so much energy??

Sooo after training for 2 months(?), I successfully ran 3.1 miles without walking. I started out not being able to even run a mile so I feel pretty accomplished. Now I’m thinking about signing up for the Father’s Day 10K… I’ll think about this.

So anyway, I made it home:

Check out my hair.

I made some microwaved egg whites with ketchup to tide me over and then went to Trader Joe’s.

I got some bread:

Sprouted rye!

And made a sandwich (plus an extra for lunch tomorrow):

And settled onto the couch with sandwich & Sunday paper:

The BEST morning!

I hope you are all having a lovely day too.

Race Day!

Good Morning!! It’s 6:35 AM! I’m drinking coffee/eating breakfast and getting ready for the race. I’m pretty excited. I slept well and it’s not going to rain today!

Breakfast is going to be oatmeal with pumpkin and half of a chocolate chip Z Bar crumbled on top. Carbs + Fiber + Protein + Fat. I know that oatmeal doesn’t upset my stomach so I figured I’d just stick with that.

Am I taking a 5K WAY too seriously. Ah probably but it’s my first race so that’s how it goes.

Okay have a nice day!! I can’t bring my camera today :( so pictures will be limited.
