Ketchup!

What a witty title you say??!

Anyway…

Well the afternoon went really quickly at work. I got home at 5:30 to a tidy house (the mom is still here). I pulled out some remaining veggies that were on the verge of spoiling and introduced my mom to roasted kale. We also put together salads.

Here’s the salad:

  • Mixed baby greens
  • Red onion
  • Banana pepper
  • carrots
  • beets
  • blue cheese!
  • salsa
  • mustard
  • balsamic

And roasted kale, Brussels, butternut squash and sweet potato with sriracha and reduced sodium soy sauce:

Dessert was some Brown Cow plain yogurt with wheat bran, rolled oats, cinnamon and blackberries:

(I like Stonyfield plain over Brown Cow)

Now let’s play a little catch up (refer to witty post title).

I’ve had this for not even a week and finished a jar and a half already.

I made my mom a tofu convert thanks to Thai Gourmet’s Basil Leaves with Tofu:

    We attended this wedding:

I was pleased with my Ms. place card and candy bar favors:

I definitely slacked on the food pictures this weekend. It felt vacationy and I just didn’t have time.

Tomorrow night I have to attend an event at the Carnegie Museum for work so I probably won’t be able to take any pictures.

Alright time to focus on Penguin’s listening.

    We got a goal!!!

  • Caffenaited Monday

    Hello All,
    Monday! Ugh.

First of all, yesterday mom and I made a blueberry bundt cake to take to Aunt Isabel’s for dinner. I didn’t take a picture of the finished product! I forgot, but here it is baked and ready to fight with me about coming out of the pan.

I got the recipe from a Williams-Sonoma Cakes, Cupcakes and Cheesecakes cookbook. I LOVE this cookbook. I bought it from Amazon for like $2. The cake came out very moist and not too sweet. We also drizzled a simple lemon, confectionery sugar glaze on the cooled cake. We used frozen blueberries. Delicious! Next time, I think I’ll use more blueberries though.

Anyway, I started out the day with PB2 Oats with Flax Plus:

    Morning snack was some blackberries:

Which came from our awesome Costco trip yesterday:

Mom has a Costco membership and took me shopping to purchase a 5 year supply of coffee filters…

Lunch was a salad with field greens, red onion, beets, banana peppers, salsa, and leftover salmon from last night’s dinner at Aunt Isabel’s. The salmon was DELICIOUS. She used a Giada recipe and it was great! We also had a grilled romaine salad, a Giada pasta recipe, sun-dried tomato foccocia, three bottles of wine and blueberry cake for dessert. Dinner was great!

    Here’s the lunch salad:

I used chipotle barbacue sauce for dressing. Weird eh?

Alright I have to go back to work now. Have a good afternoon!

Food Should Taste Good. Good Name.

Food Should Taste Good Review Time!

Last week, I brought in a bunch of different flavors of Food Should Taste Good tortilla chips for the lovely coworkers to taste. Big thanks to Food Should Tast Good for sending me samples!

I set out the following flavors with post-it notes for voting purposes.

  • Sweet Potato
  • Potato and Chive
  • Olive
  • Jalepeno
  • Cinnamon

I had high hopes for the sweet potato flavor:

Another shot of the taste testing:

I got many comments from the coworkers. Everyone asked where you could buy them and how much they are. They also asked why they are different than other tortilla chips. Everyone seemed to think they were healthier tortilla chips.

Folks, if you look at just the straight nutritional values, they’re just like any other chip. However, if you look at the ingredient list, you will see that these are all natural. That’s very important to me. If I’m going to eat a chip, I want the fat and flavor to come from actual food sources. Still, these chips, like any other chip, should be eaten in moderation.

Moving on… everyone loved the potato and chive and the jalapeno. Sweet potato was kind of a let down. It didn’t taste like a sweet potato at all! Olive is great! I also have multigrain at home which is great with salsa!

I’m told that these can be purchased at the Market District stores as well as Whole Foods in the Pittsburgh area. I’m not sure of the cost but I’m guessing you’ll pay a premium for them as compared to regular chips. You can print a $1 off coupon from their website though.

    Here are the results:

Tie between Olive and Jalapeno! My vote went to jalapeno. Anyway, these are quite delicious so if you come across them, pick them up!
