Good Morning Everyone!
First of all, this is happening in Florida.

That would be my brother and his son on a motorcycle(?) I can’t really tell. Oh dear oh dear.
Moving on:
So I’m having skipped-the-race-this-morning remorse right now. After staying out really late Friday night and then staying up until 2 AM last night, there was very little hope that I was going to get up at 7 AM and run a race. If I had pre-registered (LIKE I TRIED), I would have definitely run it but ah well. Instead of the race though, I had a really fun weekend! Therefore, we will not dwell. I am going to register for my next race TODAY though so that this doesn’t happen again. I’m going to go on a lonnng run today too so that will be good.
Anyway, I haven’t been taking pictures of the eats this weekend because it’s been really random and boring. I’ll show you some highlights though.
Friday
I got home from work around 530 and decided to go for a short run (2 miles) because I was full of nervous energy for some reason. I also decided to make biscotti to take to the party Friday night. I always get so excited about having a reason to bake something and I figured this was reason enough. People in groups like to snack…so I went with biscotti. It’s quick and easy and travels well.
If you recall, I made these biscotti for another party around Christmas time. So I already posted the recipe over here. The only difference this time was I didn’t have any lemon zest so I used lime zest. I only used maybe a 1/4 teaspoon though so you couldn’t even taste it. I’d add more next time. Otherwise, this is the best biscotti recipe. You can pretty much add anything you have. This time, again, I used food processed chocolate covered espresso beans and craisins. I was looking for pistachios but couldn’t find the shelled variety and wasn’t about to shell them.
Last time I made this recipe, I made one giant log like the recipe recommends and they were HUGE biscotti. Like the kind that you get at coffee shops that are ridiculously too big for a cookie.
This time, I made three little logs instead:

They were a bit uneven because I was kind of rushing. They are already cooked in that picture. THEY GROW so keep that in mind if you make more than one log. Give ‘em room.
After both bakings and letting them cool, I dipped them in melted chocolate. Last time I drizzle them with milk and white chocolate. I like the dipping better.
Pictures kind of suck due to the lack of natural light and my not feeling like setting up a pretty little photo shoot.

Packaged and ready to go:

Around 9 I got bored so Friend came over to drink some wine with me pre-party. We didn’t finish the bottle but I had a glass and halfish then we went to pick up other friends and head to Troy Hill.

So Friday night, Troy Hill Visit #2. I went to a party in Troy Hill and met a TON of people and hung out with friends and drank 2 beers and stood by an enclosed fire. It was a lot of fun and good to see people that I haven’t seen lately.
Saturday, I was feeling a wee bit dehydrated and sleepy due to drinking some of this.

I swear drinking cheap beer makes me feel worse in the morning than good beer. Gina is probably very pleased to see that PBR has made it to the blog.
So I made a smoothie recovery drink.
1/2 banana
1/4 black raspberries
1/2 cup coffee
ice cubes
1/2 & 1/2
Around 11, I left the house and went for a run to the strip. I ran to the 16th Street Bridge and then back to around 21st Street (?) and got some groceries because we had plans of cooking some dinner that night. I LOVE the Strip. How many times can I say that?? Like every weekend that I go… I got lots of good things and had a discussion with my checkout dude at Right by Nature about Troy Hill. Troy Hill brings people together. That should be their slogan.
Annnnyway, I did some cleaning and some chatting and some porch swinging and then I did something …let’s say… unusual.
I WENT TO CHURCH. Ha. I’m not really going to elaborate about why I went to church or with whom but it was an experience. I would say it was a good experience. I’m probably not turning to religion any time soon but I enjoyed hearing what these people had to say and their argument for their beliefs.
After that, we made pizza! This is one of two mini-pizzas. The other one was spinach-less but otherwise the same. I ate half a mini pizza.
Penn Mac bought crusts
TJ’s pizza sauce
Mozzarella
Spinach
Red bell pepper
Banana pepper
Red Onion
Romano cheese
Look at those nicely chopped vegetables!

Close up:
We then watched part of the Penguin’s game and then couldn’t take it anymore so gave up and did some more porch swinging.
Okay now it’s Sunday morning. I’m watching CBS Sunday Morning and trying to plan a 5 mile run that will inevitably involve some walking.
Alright, have a good day!
