Saturday Morning Love

Good Morning!

This is a great Saturday morning! It’s 8:36 AM right now. I didn’t set an alarm this morning because I have NO long run today but I naturally woke up around 6:30 AM. I stayed in bed though for about an hour just thinking. It was so nice not to get out of bed right away like I normally do. I ended up staying in last night and getting to bed by around 11:30. It’s been a while since I’ve stayed in alone on a Friday night.

Moving on… Bowie just knocked the remote off of the couch. Evil cat. He’s been really hyper the last couple of days. So as I was lying in bed this morning, I was thinking about possibly going out for the shortest, easiest jog of all time. It’s really weird but I actually WANT to run today. I’ve gotten so used to running pretty much every other day that I’m craving some activity. Now I’m guessing going for a run today wouldn’t be a great idea the day before a race and luckily… it’s raining so no run today. Probably for the best, right? So instead of running or showering or doing anything the least bit productive, I’m doing this:

Reading blogs and drinking coffee!

The best! Check out my sweet mug. It’s new. Mmmhmm. Remember the other day when I bought that sports bra? Well, I also bought that mug. $2! Who doesn’t want a mug with their initial??? Come on. It’s cool.

The Early Show is on the TV in the background if you’re wondering.

So plans for today include the following:

  • Eat oatmeal for breakfast
  • Be lazy a little while longer
  • Shower/get dressed
  • Make a new playlist for the race tomorrow!
  • Get everything together for the race tomorrow (clothes, breakfast, etc.)
  • Fight with Little Italy Days patrons
  • Meet Andy to pick up race packets!
  • Take Andy to dinner for his birthday
  • Church!
  • Bed early in preparation for 10K in the AM!!!

I’m SO excited for the race!!!!!!!!!!!

Reuniting with Chris Fennimore!

Happy Friday!!!

Bloomfield is a flurry of activity today. We have some G20 protesting that might be happening around 1 plus it’s Little Italy Days. Please see below. There are lots of food vendors, some games, some t-shirts with Italian flags on them, etc. I kind of love all of the excitement of having people EVERYWHERE for a couple of days. It’s not fun for getting out of Bloomfield or parking on streets, but otherwise, it’s pretty enjoyable. Perhaps it’s my Italian heritage.

So see the window to the right of the stage below? That would be my current office’s window. Oh yes, Italian music ALL DAY LONG. It’s pretty hilarious.

So anyway, I slept in this morning(!) then got ready and had oats with peanut butter, wheat bran and cinnamon for breakfast plus purchased coffee from Crazy Mocha then walked to work. The morning actually went really quickly and then it was time for lunch! I walked home and made ANOTHER one of these random salads. Sorry for the monotony. It’s just so good.

  • spinach (microwaved for 45 seconds)
  • egg whites
  • broccoli slaw
  • shredded carrot
  • leftover peanut rice
  • mozzarella cheese
  • sriracha

It’s 1 PM now. I don’t hear any protesters yet. We’ll see what happens. Hopefully the afternoon goes smoothly in the office. I got to wear jeans today! I know, I know. It’s exciting. Plans for this evening include…relaxing relaxing relaxing. I’m so excited for a weekend of relaxing. Maybe I’ll rent a movie and then get to bed early.

I have the 10K on Sunday morning plus Aaron is out of town this weekend so I’m keeping it low-key. Today and tomorrow are rest days from running in preparation for the race Sunday. I actually can sleep in on a Saturday morning! So excited.

Alright time to hang out for a bit and then back to work.

Enjoy your Friday afternoons!!!

Greet one another with a kiss of love

Thursday Night!

So I had these big plans of cooking an elaborate dinner for myself tonight since I could walk home from work today, I had extra time plus I had a fair amount of groceries. Thoughts of soup or stuffed peppers or something were floating through my head toward the end of the work day. Well, first of all, there was G20 madness. The bank down the street from where I was working had bricks thrown through their windows so we had to lock our doors. We were locked in for about an hour. Police cars kept driving by and then police on bikes blah blah. There were lots of cops, lots of protesters with bandanas or gas masks over their mouths and lots of curious spectators. Really the protesters didn’t seem to do too much damage. I guess they were trying to get downtown (about three miles from here) but the police kept pushing them back. This is good for the G20 members and the city, not so good for us Bloomfield residents.

I hear some screaming outside right now. So anyway, for tomorrow we were told to dress down, wear jeans, etc just in case. I guess tomorrow is the big day but I really think not very much is going to happen. We’ll see. I felt safe walking home though where I was working is literally one block from my house. I didn’t do any meandering through the streets tonight though. What I did do was throw my dinner cooking plans out the window and went and bought a new sports bra. hahaha. I really, desperately needed a new one. They don’t last forever friends. I bought this lovely pink one. Oh yes it’s reversible. It also has some reflective material going on. This is good because I am always running around in just a sports bra. NO. That never happens.

So I wandered around the store forever, tried on everyone’s favorite Nike Tempo running shorts, hated them, and came home. A few of my friends and my Aunt called and texted me this evening to make sure that I was still alive. Bloomfield is BIG news tonight. I am still alive. No threats to my life have occurred. One thing that did frighten me a little happened though — I was sitting in my car in the garage with the door open talking to my Aunt on my cell phone and I noticed some man standing behind my car. Umm. I watched him for a second and he wasn’t moving. Just looking at my car. Soo I shut my car door, locked the doors and sat there. He waited about another minute then kept walking. Weird. I quickly went inside and locked my apartment doors. There are all sorts of random people walking around Bloomfield right now so I’m going to make sure to be a little careful about walking around by myself and having doors locked, etc.
So anyway, I got home from sports bra shopping (ate a Z Bar in the car) and made another random salad for dinner.
  • spinach (microwaved for 45 seconds)
  • leftover baked, marinated tofu
  • broccoli slaw!
  • shredded carrots
  • leftover peanut rice
  • mozzarella cheese
  • sriracha (seriously close to finishing bottle #2)

I ate the salad with a multi-grain Arnold’s thin.

I also had a big bowl of TJ’s Greek yogurt with wheat bran, cinnamon and a little brown sugar for dessert.

I just realized that I’m not exactly sure what broccoli slaw is. hmm. I will look into this when I have a readily available internet question. That is not now.

So I got a blister on my toe from my long run on Saturday and it started bleeding this evening. Hm. Running is wreaking havoc on my poor little toes. They’re in bad shape. Oh well.

Alright time to read and write and sleep.

Have a nice night!
