I’ve been meaning to blog. Sort of. I told Aaron yesterday that I lost my blogging mojo. Not sure what happened.
As a result of being too lazy to walk to the kitchen and get my camera, I’ve decided to blog about some of my favorite things!!
Top 5 Favorite Things (of late):
1. EatSmart Precision Kitchen Scale

I bought this scale in order to make uniform cupcakes for my wedding however, I just packed my lunch for work tomorrow and weighed all of the items as I assembled my salad, sandwich and bag of baby carrots as well as oats and cereal for the morning. Want to see a few of my completely incorrect portion-size estimates? (Note: I’m not going to use this to determine portions, I was just curious and it’s fun to weigh things).
- baby carrots = overestimate (but they’re carrots so it’s cool)
- spinach = underestimate (80 grams of spinach is a TON)
- feta cheese = underestimate (looks like I can use more cheese!)
- oatmeal = WAY overestimate. 1/2 cup measuring cups are wrong wrong wrong
- cereal = overestimate because cereal is awesome
Anyway, the kitchen scale is pretty cool and will be very useful when I attempt to make Tartelette’s macarons.
2. Breville Juice Fountain Plus

Haven’t used this bad boy yet so I can’t really give you a review. The truth is, Aaron and I were debating whether or not to keep it since I have quite a few kitchen appliances. (I won it on Carrots N’ Cake a while back. Thank you for the awesome give away!) Not sure how often I’ll be motivated to juice plus I hear it’s pretty annoying to clean. It’s on the list though because I think it’s pretty sweet and if I wasn’t so lazy, I’d probably juice all sorts of fruits and veggies into a colorful, frothy concotion.
3. Spibelt!

First of all, that’s definitely not me. Photo courtesy of Amazon. I know I already mentioned the spibelt on the blog but I finally got to run outside and use it and realized how awesome it is. I bought the water resistant one which was great because it was raining/snowing on my run home the other day (ran home from work!). Anyway, I clipped it around my waist with cell phone, keys, and some cash and ran the 3 miles home. It didn’t budge at all and was completely comfortable. Awesome!
4. Zojirushi Bread Machine

My grandparents bought me this a while back and I love it! It’s very, very easy and cheap to make bread in this thing. It comes with a recipe book but if you follow pretty much the flour/yeast/water/oil combo, you can add pretty much anything else you want and it will knead and bake your a beautiful loaf. I’ve messed with flax seeds, nuts and various flours and each loaf has come out pretty well. A note on the bread machine though — use dry, powdered milk instead of regular milk. It’ll make your bread much more light and fluffy. My first few loaves were pretty freaking dense.
The machine also makes jam!
5. New Balance Sleek Woven Running Short (3″ inseam)

I bought these at Marshalls or TJ Maxx for about $20 and they are by far, my favorite running shorts. For those of you who don’t like the Nike Tempo shorts, check these out. The waist band is looser than the tempo shorts and lower and they are very comfortable! Plus there is a key pocket on the inside and a little zipper pocket on the outside. Awesome!!
That concludes a short list of a few of my favorite things. Hope you enjoyed it! Back to regular blogging when my mojo returns…
Ha! I am going thru the same blogging funk!!
Awesome shorts. I have really never bought a pair of shorts other than tempo shorts, but I haven’t seen those at Marshalls/TJ Maxx
Thanks for the bread machine reminder! We haven’t used ours in ages (it’s tucked away back in a dark corner of the pantry) and now I am craving some tasty homemade bread. Also, I’ve always sort of wanted a juicer but can’t decide if I’d actually use it – though maybe for lemonade in the summer?
A food scale would be really interesting… I’m sure that most of my portion sizes are a lot bigger than I think they are!
I like the shorts rec- I always feel like the tempo shorts create a muffin top!
Ok, I would like all of those, thanks!
